Cerebral Palsy Research Network (CPRN) Partners with Backpack Health to Offer Community Members Health Data Management Tool

Partnership will provide cerebral palsy community with enhanced data access and ownership as well as the opportunity to contribute to medical research

Salt Lake City, UT and Dover, MA – July 1, 2019 – The Cerebral Palsy Research Network (CPRN) has partnered with Backpack Health, LLC to provide individuals, families, and caregivers in the cerebral palsy (CP) community with Backpack Health’s data management application, allowing them to achieve better health outcomes by offering access to personal health records, condition-specific resources, and research opportunities in one, centralized location.

“We are thrilled to partner with Backpack Health and extend their empowering health data management tool to the cerebral palsy community,” said Paul Gross, Chairman and Founder of CPRN. “By working together, we can enhance opportunities and outcomes for the community by improving medical care management while contributing to increased knowledge about the disorder.”

Backpack Health’s mobile and cloud-based app helps people with chronic, serious, and rare health concerns, and those who care for them, better manage their health journeys. This empowers patients and their caregivers to be effective personal health historians by making it easy to access, own, and control personal health information. Just like a real backpack, the portable, multilingual app allows users to carry around what matters most – their comprehensive medical information and documents and those of their loved ones – in one central location.

CPRN also plays host to mycerebralpalsy.org (MyCP), which allows people with CP and their caregivers to participate directly in research from their phone or computer, influence the CP research agenda through discussions with health professionals and researchers, and learn the latest in CP research news. By partnering with Backpack Health, CPRN will be able to offer the CP patient community a user-friendly app, multi-lingual support, and tools to help simplify interactions within the medical community and other provider types who need to be sensitive to medical conditions in their interactions.

“Backpack Health exists solely to serve patients, providing users around the globe with a tool that allows them to be in control of their own health,” said Jim Cavan, CEO and co-founder of Backpack Health. “We are honored to partner with CPRN, who shares our value of putting the patient at the center of care, to ensure that patients not only have access to critical information, but that patient reported data is included in cerebral palsy research.”
